My name is Jordan Rodbell. First of all let me make it clear that I am not an expert in the behavioral health field. This site is just an opportunity for me to share the information that I have gleaned from the experts. I have worked in the mental health field and have personal and experiential knowledge of addiction, alcoholism, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other behavioral health conditions. I hope that this site can play a part in creating an awareness of mental health conditions and of some of the treatment options.
Mental health conditions such as depression, substance abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder, and eating disorders, are all too common today. Depression is estimated to affect one in ten American adults. PTSD has been on the rise in recent years, with almost eight million American adults thought to be affected, particularly in the military sector. Eating disorders are especially becoming common, with more than eight million people, seven million of them women, suffering from the affliction.
Recovery is contingent on getting a proper diagnosis and finding effective treatment. While there are a number of treatment options, I am an advocate of holistic mental health treatment methods which integrate the healing of the mind, body, and spirit. This site is my attempt to share information on mental health symptoms, and to introduce treatment options to help individuals and families suffering from these disorders.
